Mutual Fund assets under management (AUM) increased to Rs. 41.50 lakh crore in April 2023, from Rs. 40.62 lakh crore in March, 2023.
The growth in AUM was driven by a strong inflow of RS. 1.50 lakh crore in April, 2023. This was the highest monthly inflow in the last six months.
The equity segment saw the highest inflow of RS. 1 lakh crore in April 2023. This was followed by the debt segment, which saw an inflow of RS. 40,000 crore.
The balanced and hybrid schemes grew by 4.5% and 3.5% respectively.
The growth in AUM was supported by a strong rally in the equity markets. The benchmark Nifty 50 index rose by 8.4% in April 2023.
The growth in AUM is also a reflection of the growing investor interest in mutual funds. The number of active investors in mutual funds increased to 10.86 crore in April 2023, from 10.65 crore in March, 2023.
The growth in AUM is a positive sign for the mutual fund industry. It is expected to continue in the coming months, as the economic recovery gathers pace.
